Fed up and angry
« on: March 06, 2008, 11:34:31 AM »
Hi
I am new to this forum and wanted to release some pent up feelings I have with regard to my position in life.

I am 69 years still working. Why, because I am frightened to loose my income just to keep up with the increases costs of living we all face.

If it was a level playing field I suppose I would not mind so much.

But I am not getting my fare share of the Nations money. I have worked all my life, paid religiously all my dues.

I will have to use my meagre savings just to try to keep a modest standard of living.

The Nation can afford to, pay for immigrant accommodation, pay for all their living expenses. pay for children that do not even live in this country
Pay for we all know a lot of people who are parasites and live off the back of others with false claims of reasons they cannot work.
The list goes on too many for me to list here
What about me!!

It is me that is suffering,a pensioner who has been moderate all his life, lived a straight line,  where has it got me.?

Can you ever remember any requests by a group of pensioners being listened to.

Why ? we are a disjointed group with no weight of opinion and yet united we would be bigger than any current Union.

With all our experiences of time we have seen that the politicians opinions are those where they can get the biggest vote.

They are in the main a self interest group with inside information on where to invest,
and take full advantage of allowable expenses no matter how diverse they are.

The answer to get the politicians to listen to our requests for a fair share is to unite.

Is there a pensioners union?

If not why not, is there a leader out there somewhere sat at home bored out of his tree.
I am sure If some one stood up there would be lots of help.

Let us unite and redeem ourselves and be listened to with the aid of modern communications spread the word.

Thats just a little of what I feel, like many others.

I am now wondering if the moderators of this forum are thinking that this is too radical a posting
and will not publish, but if it was then I am sure there will be lots of response

Hiya I'm new to this web site but will inform all my friends about it...I agree with you we do need to do something about this injustice that we are been served...we are in fact been discriminated in our old age for not being 80years old...why?... and how is the government getting away with it...companies are not allowed to pay older workers a higher rate or bonuses so why are we allowing the government to do this to us...its got my blood boiling!!...if we were 80 yrs old we would receive £400 this winter but because my husband is 70years old he will get £260...this is surely a full case of Age Discrimination...and we should be sueing the government over this...is their anyone else out there feels this too?...I ready for battle over this ...

At last there is someone out there.
I would have thought that this would have been an active forum.
How can we advertise it apart from speaking/ recommending to colleagues which is far too slow to expand quickly.

This budget has eroded our standard of living and the future is not bright with continuing cost of living in what ever area you care to look
Still frustrated, still unhappy about the future.
Looking forward to someone to stand up and be counted >:(

Hi all,

I joined this forum about one minute ago!  That was my second new venture today.  Earlier I joined the National Pensioners Party

http://www.thepensionersparty.org/index.html

as I am fed up of being treated like a second-class citizen by the mainstream politicians.  I am almost 71 years of age, quite active physically and mentally.  I know the big parties are only interested in my vote.  But now I have found a party which will take my interests on board.

Anyway, rant over!  And I look forward to sharing news and views with you all.

HI BELTO. I TOO AM NEW, IN FACT ONLY SAW THE FORUM TODAY. I AGREE WITH ALL YOUR COMMENTS. WE NEED A STRONG VOICE PUTTING OUR VIEWS ACROSS, WE ARE TOO SEPERATED EVER TO BE A MAJOR FORCE BOT AT PRESENT SOME POLITICAINS, AND MINISTERS, ARE VERY RECEPTIVE TO ANY IDEA THAT MIGHT GET THEM ENOUGH VOTES TO ENABLE THEM TO MAINTAIN THE LIFESTYLE THEY, AND MANY OF THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS, HAVE GROWN USED TO. BETWEEN NOW AND THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION IS OUR BEST HOPE OF GETTING SOME "FAIR PLAY" WE WILL NOT ASK FOR MUCH, JUST WHAT WE DESERVE AFTER A LIFETIME OF WORK.
ANYONE OUT THERE READING THIS WHO CAN CARRY MORE WEIGHT THAN US INDIVIDUALS??
ANY PENSION AGE MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT WHO WANT TO ENSURE THAT THEY TOO WILL BE TREATED WELL AFTER THE NEXT ELECTION, A LOT OF YOU WILL BE CHANGING CAREERS I AM SURE.
WELL SAID BELTO, KEEP PUSHING YOUR VIEWS HERE AND ANYWHERE ELSE YOU CAN, SOMEONE WILL BE MONITORING. BRINOR

The British Pensioner has an  image problem

Most people in power are by definition civil servants/public employees. They are on huge tax funded pensions. Why and how can they have any perception of what 80% of ordinary pensioners go through?

I think we have tried docile methods. Well, let's get tough. Let's kick up a storm.

Neither the Labour or Tory parties have any agenda to bring the state pension up to a decent level where many of us can stop begging for crumbs

I have severe arthritis. I spent hours filling in a 36 page form to get benefit. It was turned down. I can hardly walk without being in pain. So how come we have millions of much younger people on disability pension? It's almost as if because we are old they think we don't need anything. The way all governments treat most of the old is a national disgrace.

We are millions. Why the heck are we being kicked about?

Clem, have you thought about appealling the decision to turn you down for benefit?
My advice would be to go online and download the application form.
When you are filling it in,  give the worst possible scenario of your day.
For example, mention your worst day of pain and suffering.
Also don't write that you 'can't do something', suggest that you would be able to manage better if you had help.
Imagine your worst day and write down how it affects you.

Why are we as British born citizens being discriminated against?  So many of us are angry when we hear that immigrants and single mothers get more to live on than we do.  I know that I am not being 'pc' about this, but we do have genuine grievances and we should be allowed to voice them without upsetting those in our country who have not paid into our NHS and pension services etc etc.

Just because we are of a certain age, does not mean that we can be brushed aside and ignored,  come on all you pensioners fight for your rights.
We have to pay the same amount for the rising costs of food, gas and electricity, but we don't have the luxury of being able to increase our income.  Where is the fairness?  Let us shout as loud as we can to obtain what is rightfully ours.

Thanks Faye, you are right. I spoke to someone at CAB who helped me with a second form and wrote to my two consultants. I didn't need to lay it on with a trowel, the specialists confirmed I could hardly walk or get dressed without help. I've just been awarded disability allowances of £47.00 per week. Mine is a genuine case yet I've been made to feel like a bl_oody nuisance for asking after almost ten years in pain.

Yes, you are right to be non pc. We pensioners are last in a long list and get much less than single mums or immigrants.

We are like the underclass in a society we helped to create.

I am pleased to hear that you have finally managed to obtain what is rightfully yours.
If we were to sit down and work out just how much we have paid into this country via income tax and National Health Insurance throughout our working life,  we would be somewhere in the millions.
I don't very often get angry or frustrated about things, but pensioners rights and the mental health services really does raise my passion to the hilt.
I am hoping that we can get enough pensioners on here to make their voices heard.  I have sent an email to the Pensioners party, I will be happy to help them campaign for our rights.
It is time for us all to say...'enough is enough'.  Let us live out our lives with dignity and respect and not in poverty.

Please see the latest postings on ppp (pensioners political party) for those who have not yet read them.

I think that it is important to realise the pensioners per se are not discriminated against - after all FTSE 100 Directors who are on their company pension are not discriminated against! No, the discrimination is against all those who have limited means of achieving a decent income within the present economic system, which of course, includes a great many pensioners.

I am therefore campaigning for a fairer society overall, with a much reduced gap in income and wealth between rich and poor. Go to www.socialequityparty.org.uk to learn a little more about what I am trying to start.

The other thing to remember is that parties which represent a particular portion of society, whether it be the working class, pensioners, or whatever, fail to attract wide support. In order to gain a handle on power (and without any power you can't do anything) you need to have broad appeal. With the three major political parties fighting over the same ground (the proverbial middle-Englanders) the time has never been better than now to launch a new political party with broad appeal.

So, how about it, you people? Who is up for the fight?

Graham

I do agree with all you've said, I've just posted my first message, and at the moment I am feeling very fed up and disgruntled.  I am 69, my husband is 73 and we are both still working.  At the moment we're being refused travel insurance at a reasonable price,  oh yes, we can have it,  but at an enormous premium.

Hi,  Have just joined and found exactly what I was looking for - a group of equally disgruntled pensioners.
From 5 - 10 years ago a large group of us made representations about the Council Tax and eventually New Labour sympathised  with our situation and said they would review the system. You will recall all the effort Is It Fair and other groups put into the campaign. What has happened in the last five years - absolutely nothing. Yet the Govt could have made a goodwill gesture almost straight away by giving us a 5 - 10 % reduction the following April.
I don't know the exact percentage, but people over 60 must represent over 40% of the voting electorate.  Many of us live in communities with high percentages of pensioners like Littlehampton/Worthing, Christchurch/Bournemouth, Torquay/Paignton and there must be many more.
What we need to do is to form a political party and put up candidates  in these and similar constituencies at the next election. We would stand a very good chance of getting several candidates into Parlaiment.  Just think of the confusion and consternation our standing  for Parlaiment would arouse amongst the three major parties, particularly where there are small majorities.  This is the only way in which pensioners needs are going to be recognised and something done about them.
I suggest that we could have a separate link to discuss our concerns and come up with suggestions and a way forward.
Yours in hope of a positive response.      Mike.
