It makes disturbing reading when between December 3rd and December 9th there have been an 'extra' 1,973 this is a 21% increase on last year.
If this trend continues the forcast for deaths this year will be a raise of 11,600 to 37,000 for this year.
These figures also reveal that 86% of the extra deaths were in the over 75's.
The winter fuel allowance has been paid and people are getting the £25 pw winter fuel payments so if you know any elderly people who are not on-line make sure they are keeping their heating on and not worrying about the bills.
It is better to pay slightly more through the summer than die because you are worried about the bills. The utility companies would rather have you paying a small amount off your arrears than get nothing at all because you are dead.
This is a time for all us pensioners to look after one another.
