Pensioners Campaign
« on: August 01, 2011, 07:54:08 PM »
For the last 4 months PensionersForum.co.uk has hosted a campaign lobbying for better treatment of pensioners, but regrettably this will now cease. The campaign was headed by member Chrisjay and was publicised under the PensionersForum banner. As well as being used as a platform for launching the campaign, the forum also hosted the campaign with it's own dedicated board here, and it was extensively promoted among our members and guests. Seeing as it would be mutually beneficial by attracting new members to our forum etc I had no objection and the campaign was successfully launched with press releases and letters sent out under the PensionersForum name. However since then, despite the help we provided, Chrisjay has decided to break the ties the campaign had with the forum, and has been developing a new website and forum to host the campaign and given it a new name, making it entirely separate from this forum. All new press releases and publicity will now be directing people straight to her new website, which has no mention of this forum whatsoever. Thus the benefit of bringing new members to our forum will now be lost. I tried to remedy the situation by offering Chrisjay the ability to publish the new website at www.pensionersforum.co.uk/campaign and address any other problems she had, but this was turned down. Consequently we will no longer be hosting or promoting the campaign here.

PensionersForum.co.uk wishes Chrisjay every success with her campaign, but sadly it will no longer be a part of the Forum which will continue as before as a public forum discussing pensioners issues and other matters of interest to OAP's. Hopefully Chrisjay will still be able to continue contributing to the forum.

I'm afraid there have been further unpleasant developments here.

Chrisjay has posted extremely insulting and defamatory remarks about me on another forum, including falsely alleging that I sold our members personal details and that I have been accessing our members private mailboxes. Both are blatant lies. I have never and will never sell our members personal information to any 3rd party. And now that she owns her own forum she knows full well that administrators cannot access mailboxes, yet she has persisted in propagating that lie.

I shall now be referring the matter to my solicitor.

Such behavior is disgraceful and completely discredits chrisjay and her campaign. Needless to say this forum is now washing it's hands completely of it, and chrisjay is summarily dismissed as moderator and will no longer be posting on this forum.

This site will continue as a forum for discussing pensioners issues, however it will no longer be supporting or publicising her campaign. Instead we recommend anyone wanting to join a campaign to look at the National Pensioners Convention. They are a large and credible organisation, and very active in fighting for pensioners rights including:
• Regularly lobbying MP's and issuing press releases.
• Organising petitions (their current one is a petition against the cut to the winter fuel allowance).
• Organising street protests (the last one was in April).
• Organising public meetings (there are 3 more later this year).
• Their own annual 3 day convention at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool which attracts thousands of their members every year. This year they had the Pensions Minister, Steve Webb, on the platform facing angry delegates.
• They have 16 regional offices in the UK.
• It is free to sign up and receive their month campaign bulletins.
