Hi Sandy, you are wise to think about living on one level after your fall and back trouble.   I moved from a very nice block of flats which did have a reasonable service charge which included building insurance, cleaning of corridors and lounge area and other things I can't now remember.   It's a good idea to ask one of the tenants the ins and outs of how the place is run before considering buying, and what exactly you get for the service charge.  Also who runs the place and is it satisfactory.   I would never have chosen one without a balcony, as it is a haven of ones own - especially to sit out in nice weather.    Another must is - has the place got a lift.   Also a spare room for storage.    A few years ago, only because of my age and feeling vunerable I chose to move to sheltered accommodation.   I have a ground floor flat, with even a tiny garden on a complex.   There is a warden on site in the daytime.   Also bell pulls in each room to pull if help needed-
night or daytime.    A voice comes over the speaker...."Are you alright."   I know mine works because I pulled a cord by mistake!   I did have to get rid of some furniture before I moved, but somehow you end up keeping the things that are most useful and valued.   Less things to dust too.   I wish I had moved sooner as to me the advantages are numerous, one of them peace of mind for me and my family.   So Sandy there are a few important things to consider, definately no stairs! sweetpea

Hi

I found this site while looking for information on mobility assistance from local authority and government.  I am not able to walk due to arthritis and other ailments.  I am here to see if there's anything posted that will help me and also to connect with other people.  It's an informative site.  Looking forward to being here on a regular basis.

Hello to any new members who have just joined this great site.
I am sorry that I have not called in much just of late but I keep getting SO many e-mails to answer from worldwide I seem to be spending more time doing that than calling in any forums that I belong to.
I hope everyone is keeping well and with a bit of luck I will call back in a bit.

Hi there Maywalk, hope you are well - I join you in welcoming new members to the forum. Not called in myself for ages, family illness has kept me fully occupied, now am in the final stages of house buying, so packing up, etc, not my favourite pastime!

Best wishes to all

Hi Twilightime - we are a friendly forum, always ready to help where we can, so ask away.
Dottie, great to hear from you, I have already been to a Tesco and they have supplied boxes and bubble wrap - thought I would have enough, after moving from C.I. but a year in transit has meant adding 'few more 'things to treasure'.

Will email you privately with move details, etc.

Best wishes to you both
