Chris. A good friend of mine was registering and asked me about the anti spam question, we couldn't understand how answering the question prevents spam, just curious.

Hi everyone stumbled on your web site and found it interesting. our generation once upon a time had some influence, we seem to be spectators at the moment it's time we fought back. So I've joined the National Pensioner Forum the largest pensioners campaigning group. Check them out on their web sit.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the welcome, nice way to start the New Year.

I do not believe we can address all of the problems and issues raised on the forum without speaking with one voice.

Politicians pay lip service to us, we can expect a lot of carrots coming our way leading up to the election. How do we ensure that these carrots will appear on our dinner plate?

BillB

Are you on about the National Pensioner Convention?

It really should have a Forum - it looks a bit insular to me.

I think it is Bill, but I have only just been elected, and I thought it would be nice to talk with other pensioners.

Hi Yorkie, I too have worked for the post office, 13 years to be exact as a postman, 1974-1987.  Im 61 now and these are my credentials re- pensioners.

Im a campaigner for British Seniors full state pension rights, because since the 80's UK state pensions have been allowed to dwindle in value due to former Tory government pensions policy when Thatcher broke the state pensions link with national average wages, it is a tragedy that New Labour have continued the policies of the former Tory government.

As a result of this pensions policy, 1 in 5, from a 12 million elderly generation live in poverty, with many deaths among elderly people because they cannot afford to "eat", and "heat" their homes.

Thank you.

Thanks for your reply Ivanhoe,Yes pensioners have been going through a hard time and it does not look as if it is going to get any better in the foreseeable future, Pensioners seem to get looked after better in most of the European states, and I just don't know why that should be the case.

Have you heard anything about the Government initiative to give pensioners more money for heating, because of the bad weather we have been having, and they have also said carry on using your heating as normal.( The mind boggles

Are you going to be at the pensioners meeting down in Wimbledon next month?

Hi again Ivanhoe.

Yes I am going, but I have only just been elected as a delegate  for the CWU . I am a class C member, and the branch unfortunately will have to pay for me to attend .

It should not be to expensive for them as I have a son who lives and works in London, and him being down there makes it very handy at times.

I used to work in York, but was transferred 30 years ago to Chester, but finished working in Mold 12 miles from Chester in North Wales.

What office did you work in.?

Bare with me if I am a little slow on my computer as I have not had one very long, and I am not quite sure what I am supposed to be doing.

I am new on the computer so I was just feeling my way around.

I have just recently been elected to be a delegate at the pensioners meeting in Wimbledon next month.

I am hoping their could be some good news to pass on to other members in this site.

I am enjoying myself so far on this site and look f award to talking to lots of people in the near future.

Thanks Yorkie
