Welcome to the old fogies Forum Oldwrinkly one.

I am new myself, a member for a week.

They are not a bad crowd, they like winding you up, witch is good for the sole.

I am enjoying it, I feel at home, as if I was with my wife. HA HA.

Seriously they sound a good crowd.

I think you may have been mistaken.

Old Wrinkly is a new member today.

My wife bought me some anti wrinkle cream for Christmas, but I think I would need a few buckets full for my wrinkles.

I am told wrinkles are a sign of being wise, I don't think that I come under that category either.

Hello I am a pensioner, I worked just under 50 years and did 2 years national service, I live in Essex and I was born in East London. I like art, reading, and keeping fit. I don't like reality tv shows, (too much screaming for nothing to scream about) but I am glad that we have tv to watch, although I mainly listen to the wireless on it. Best wishes to all pensioners and I look forward to chatting to you.
Spell check is too slow so apologies for any mistakes.

Welcome Geezer, Im not a pensioner.

What do you think of the low state pension in this country, with the knowledge that so many elderly people live in poverty ?

Hello Ivanhoe, State pension in Britain is a disgrace. We are the 5th richest country in the world and we allow some of the most vulnerable people to live below the poverty line. Obviously I have a vested interest but one thing I was expecting from "New Labour" was the reinstatement of pension levels linked to earnings as opposed to prices. Gordon Brown has damaged pensions in Britain by removing tax breaks from occupational pension funds thus allowing employers to close down final salary pension schemes on the grounds that they are no longer affordable. The future of pensions in this country seems to me to be extremely bleak, we are relying on making people work for longer and  importing workers from other EC countries to fund our State Pension. I will end now as I am beginning to rant.

Do carry on with your rant, yoiu are spot on in what you say,  and Mr Gordon Brown has no opposition due toNew Labour continuing the Tory agenda since 1997.
