Hello,

I'm on here for some advice really, the government have launched an initiative for pensioners to get free energy saving products, they are FREE to people over the age of 70...the only stipulation is they are a UK resident and they have to sign a form to declare their age and address.

Does anyone have any ideas where would be good locations to give these out? do you think town centres would be a good start? or does anyone have any other ideas to target this age group.

Many thanks
Look forward to hearing from you

Hi "energy".....

WhileI would never look a gift horse in the mouth I - in particular - always examine such offers very carefully.

The Energy-Saving Trust is government-sponsored and they will make a lot of offers on ways to make your home more efficient but in many cases such offers are only subsidised and are not actually free.

It is true that many companies will make such offers to over-70's just to get their hands on your age and address as afterwards their marketing people can target you from many different directions. Such demographic-based sets of information are traded right around the country so that many more companies can target you.

This can certainly be a worry.

Papaumau.

Hello!
As a 'new' pensioner I am finding it difficult to find out what is available to pensioners - it seems if you know what is available you can apply for it but how do you find out what you are entitled to in the first place??

Regards
A confused Daffodil!

This information should be available via your local authority Social Work Department. If it is not in your area it certainly IS from the Citizen's Advice Board, ( CAB ), as each local office has a team that specialises in this kind of information.

They should also be willing to help you to fill in the massive means-testing tome.

Best of luck to you Daffodil.

Hi Chris.
I am looking for a forum that does not allow foul language which seems to be all that a lot of forums get these days.
I am retired and live in Cumbria.

Hi all new comers, great to see our numbers are increasing and I hope you will all stay and make a large nice family of pensioners. I think I am one of the oldies on here at 71 year but fit and very young at heart. Bye all.

Yes folks, happily this forum has started to grow of recent months after it had started to stagnate a bit. I came here for probably the same reasons that most of you came here; to find people of like-minded interests who wanted to talk about these interests.

I am sure that at first some people on the forum thought that I had just came here to try to attract folk to my own forum, ( click the banner in my siggy spot to find it  ::) ), but after I was here a while I found that I could manage to find a lot of stimulating banter from my input - and I stayed.

This new lease-of-life of the Pensioners Forum is great so long as the "Chris" - who is the administrator here - manages to keep a close watch on the trolls.

I am not sure if anyone else notified the moderator about the infamous Jack Sparrow but I did and Chris acted very promptly and eventually kicked him off the site so he does, if you notify him about abusive posts act
