Merrytel

A great big welcome what a wonderful beginning I hope that you will be posting for many years to come ;D

I can see why June has stuck around for so many years with your lovely sense or humour.

Roy used to be a London taxi driver and like yourself started at five. In the morning he still gets up early these days.

Looking forward to your future posts

hello Merrytel, A very happy birthday for yesterday and congratulations on your retirement, you will love it! My husband (feisty fox) and myself have never looked back since we retired after years of having our noses to the grind stone. Hope you find lots of new pleasures now you have time on your side. We both love walking and birds and cinema and doing puzzles..... sorry I`m getting boring now and I`m sure you get the gist!
Never look down on anyone, unless it is to offer your hand to help them up.

Hi to Inula and to any other new members.
Sorry I have been lax in calling in but one or two things have cropped up in my personal life that I have had to sort out although one is beyond any means of help that concerns a dear friend of mine, although she is VERY much younger than myself. She has been told that she has less than six months to live due to cancer. :'(
I feel SO ruddy helpless with not living near her to at least put my arms around her to show she is loved.
Sorry if I dont call in every day but I think you will understand.

Rita and Maywalk, thank you for your kind words of welcome.    I am 66 years young, married, and my main pastimes are painting watercolours and acrylics plus patchwork with a bit of knitting, crochet and embroidery thrown in!   Anyone else with similar hobbies?
Maywalk,  I understand your feeling of helplessness.   Send her a shawl with your love so she can have a 'virtual' hug from you anytime

Hi Inula.
Lovely idea of a shawl and if she was that type of person I would definitely send her one but she is a very independent sort of person.
She has been planning what and where her mother will be going to be looked after once she is no longer here to do it plus she is getting a place sorted out for her hubby so that he too will be looked after.
Into the bargain she has arranged her own funeral and made a request that there should be NO dark colours worn plus she doesn't want any funeral dirges. She wants all happy songs sung.
She is in my eyes a VERY VERY brave lady.  :'(

She is Inula.
I met her through another cyber friend who used to live in New Zealand.
When the one in NZ told her I was in hospital in the same city that she lived in she and her hubby came to see me. It was the first time I met her and we hit it off straight away.
She is a gem and will be sadly missed by many. :(

Thanks Oldtimer.   Went for my 2 yearly eye test this morning and hurrah!! I don't need to change my glasses.  I also had my 6 monthly check up last week and Dr. said I'm in pretty good shape for my age - pity the same can't be said about the body!!
Maywalker, what a lovely story of how you met your friend.  The saying goes good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.  How are you coping, especially as you say you live some distance apart.

Hi Inular.
I am still in contact with my dear friend by e-mail and phone.
Like most people I can only pray for her and let her know that she is in my thoughts daily.

If I were younger I would be on a bus over to see her. Unfortunately I am now in my 80s and had a few seizures that I am being treated for and my lovely family dont like me going out on my own now.  :(
