And what an intrusive waste of almost £500 million

You by law have to fill it in but you do not have to tell the truth.

Why do you need to give the address you were living a year ago? If this information goes no further and is kept confidential why is this required - I thought the idea was where everyone in the country is on a specific night which is why you add 'guests' to you form?

If they are not interested in your sexual orientation why ask if you have had a same sex civil partnership ?

Why is the only question you can opt out of your religion (was that because 400,000 answered Jedi Knight in the last one) could it be they are frightened to admit how many muslims are in this country?

Why do they want to know the name, DOB, and usual UK address of your visitor, surely age and town would be sufficient?

I personally think this is a total waste (yet again) of tax payers money when the council already know who lives where, the tax and benefit office know how many, credit reference agencies know where you were before that, DVLA know how many cars are there and the illegals won't either get one or fill it in.

How ludicrous to ask when they arrived and when they plan to leave, as though someone is going to admit they are here illegally or have outstayed their visa and plan to leave soon.

Personally I shall lie about anything I deem personal as I do not trust this information to be kept confidential this is the government we are talking about who change the rules as they go along - and how long before they 'sell' our information to other people, I do not believe this information will not be used as if it is not going to be made public for over 100 years why do they need our names and DOB surely the year of our birth would suffice.  DOB are only needed for identification in my opinion.

So do I like the idea of a census Guess?

What's the point they will only have to revise them upwards as with every other figure the 'civil' service publishes.
Apologies for being so cynical

I believe they employ 35,000 'field' staff to do the door to door which I read as casual labour - I do not understand why they have to deliver and collect why not just go to home where there has been no return made.

They seem to think 25% of forms will be returned online so what happens when the 'field' staff appears on your door step?

Eureka Moment!
All political appointments  must be partenership of candidate and old age pensioner (ie the usual ego tripper and a lifetime of wisdom! - the same salary but split between the two.

Great idea - problem government does not have the brains to implement good ideas only their ideas which is usually not the same thing and always costs us money.

At the precise time of the Census I will not be resident anywhere, I'll be driving round in my car.
