LIBYA
« on: March 17, 2011, 02:32:55 PM »
Keep British troops/forces out we are already overstretched and we will not get any thanks for meddling. Civil wars are for the combatants within their countries boundaries it is often said 'better the devil you know' I'm thinking what happened in the former Yugoslavia after Tito departed. A nation fell apart. What will happen after Gaddiffi? = Ayatollah Hole in the Head? or worse. It is time for Britain to mind our own business. I'm sure that there are millions of pensioners who will know of better ways of spending taxes! I would say that wouldn't I, I supported Chamberlains efforts

And any way, after all the typical dithering it's too late. Most of the uprising has been quashed, and heaven help any that have been identified. They will almost certainly be executed :-[

So the UN has just voted for yet more human misery - as though mother nature has not all ready given us enough to contend with.Tahiti, Austrialia, New Zealand, China,  Phillipines and Japan. The Higher up the political scale you go the more idiots there  are.

and now despite having no money we are to lead the UN sanctions against Libya - just when will we realise we are NOT a super power and stop trying (along with America) to police the world.

If we were really worried about countries committing genocide why have we never removed Mungabi from Africa - there is no oil that's why.

Gaddaffi has claimed that the uprising is terrorist backed; I've yet to see any evidence to the contrary. A cynic might say that this is just an obtuse way of seending more of our young servicemen to their deaths. I have a dream of Britain of a private self-contained paradise shut of from interference in others affairs and cut of from interference from outside. Mind our own bloody business and look after our own people. The rest of the world just laughs at us and not always behind our backs - we are like an old burnt out thespian over the hill but sometimes tolerated for what we once were - sad

I think you will find its the French who are leading the way on this one. No ground troops  are being sent in.
Gaddaffi has been murdering his own people by using paid mercenaries right on our door step. Arab nations were the first to support the no fly zone and in support of the action now being taken. A part from accidents none of our young men and women should lose their lives on this humane mission.

With arms we were happy to sell him knowing what he did with them.  If we truly wanted him removed and his people freed why did we not do it after Lockerbie and why did we release his murderer to cheering crowds?

Something as usual smells here.

Yes we sold him arms, if we didn't some one else would. The people of Libya want change and we are giving them a little support by making it a level field of play.

Never mind a level playing field as you call it - how about giving our forces some respite from the gung ho attitude of politicians. I don't see the Germans or Spanish it is always the usual lemmons. One year free from war please!

The French are supposed to be leading this is that because they now 'share' our armed forces and lets not forget why they wear brown trousers  ::)

The way the gun ho French are going in all guns blazing it will all be over before we get there.

As far as our pilots are concerned, they will get some real experience rather than loads of boring exercises.

No ground forces going in. so it will not make no difference to our arm forces.

I agree with this aid we are giving them. Don't forget it was Libya who blew up a passenger plane over UK although it was impossible to prove. They also gave an heroes welcome home for the person who took the can.

I do actually support this, no troops, just take out has capacity to exterminate those opposed to him. But, as has been said, Zimbabwe, no oil, let them get on with it, Libya, lots of oil, get in there, Bahrain, no oil, let them get on with it, Iraq, lots of oil, get in there. Saudi Arabia would be an interesting challenge.

Seems to be a common thread here somewhere!

And yes, great live practice for our planes and missile platforms!
