You may think that I am being extremely awkward by saying this but I find it odd when I call in here because I belong to quite a few forums through invitations from folks who have visited my websites.
Other forums I belong to have many different sections on the forums that folks can go to with the different postings that they want to make.
By this I mean sections for poetry, a true story section, hobbies, gardening, recipes and many more which all make for interesting reading in whatever takes your fancy.
If I am really honest I think it would be nice to have different sections here because I get rather flummoxed as to put what where.
Yes I know we have a General Discussion and Chat section but its not like having a section for each subject.
Sorry if I have offended folks because that is NOT my intention I just thought it might make it more appealing to newcomers.

I have asked the moderator to add other boards but he has not I think this forum is limited to the number we have which is why if we want to discuss something we start a topic but it does get pushed down the lists if it is not used much.  I would have liked a creative writing but it never came off.

I have to keep copying and pasting the instructions of how to post a photo as eventually it gets lost down the lists of posts.

As I said before the moderator has closed the links board as he wants to use it to promote other sites in the hope of the other sites promoting this one.

You are not being awkward just expressing something we have raised before and got nowhere with  ::)

What a pity that the idea has not been taken up by the Admin. :(

Personally I think its much better to have different sections for each subject rather than having all different subjects bandied together.
As you say Chrisjay with having to scroll through pages of various things to find what you want can be a bit off putting and could possibly be one reason why folks are not wanting to become members.
However its NOT my forum so I leave it up to the one who runs it.

I hope everyone has a good day.
Cheers from Maywalk.

We have lots of people joining and lurking but I think people want a more militant forum and unfortunately this is not one.  Yes we are very vocal but because of the vast distances between most of us getting together to do anything positive is not something members are into.

I did post once saying we should elect someone to represent the forum to lobby on their behalf - there were no replies.

I may go the opposite way and say anyone objecting to say me becoming the lobbyist for the forum please reply.

We have often talked the talk about what needs to be done to bring pensioners issues to the attention of the politicians but we never actually do anything.

Also there is a difference between being members and active members and there lies one of the problems as some people join to get information and then leave again and we really do not deliver information very well either.

I was going to put several pages on the links so people could find the legal letter or contract that they could then 'tweak' to say issue a contract to your small builder or notify someone for non delivery of goods that had been paid for or invoiced and then the owner closed the links site.

So we work with what we have.

I think  Pensioners Forum is  okay just as it is, how many of us could be bothered ploughing through pages and pages of stories and poetry? certainly not me. Current affairs, nostalgia and issues that affect pensioners yes, mind numbing poetry no.

Maybe we should start putting the symbols at the side when we start new threads and have a list assigning various symbols to various topics but again that gets complicated welcome David in case I have not said it before

Hello David G
Welcome back, although I agree with you up to a point. Sections should be limited but at the moment we are a little to restricted. What Maywalk contributes is of interest to many us and no body is forced to read what she as to say. Politics I could do with out, got sick to death with it when Ivanhoe and Papa were around.
I think the section jokes and funnies title could be change to hobbies and light hearted interest.
I think your main interest are very well covered in Papa forum Ripped off Britain I am pretty sure you would be most welcome. This forum is gaining new members all the time and shaped by members.

Thankyou for the replies folks and I am afraid that debating about pensioners for's and against's is just NOT my cup of tea.
I am too old now to keep getting in a tizzy about pensioners rights and I will leave it to the young ones.

Thankyou Hugh for the kind words but I dont think what ever I put on here would be of interest to anyone but yourself so its not really worth carrying on being a member.

Thankyou all for putting up with me and may the years treat you all kindly.
God Bless All.
Maisie.

I disagree with you Maywalk, many members on here would miss you. Please post and just see how interested members are in what you have to say. I and others are bored with pensioners issues which we can do very little about. It is a pensioners forum so every thing of interest to pensioners should be aloud. I nearly left the forum like you but some very nice people arrived and the forum as now change for the better.

Hi Maywalk
Keep posting . We can't spend all day moaning about pensioners rights, otherwise we become grumpy old gits !.
Life is a mixture of emotions . A good spread of postings is what makes a good forum !
You have a lot to add to the forum ,so keep going.

We used to have a more boards but they were consolidated into the General Chat board to keep everything in one place after the Recent Posts section was removed because it was dominated by politics. Now that episode seems to be behind us more boards can be added. The Memories board was the most popular if I recall so I will recreate that. I see there are a couple of games threads that could also have their own board. Maybe a hobbies and recreation board with child boards for gardening, diy etc. But seeing as the forum is still small we don't want to spread the posts too thinly.

Maybe we also need a moderator or two. Any recommendations? I think Chrisjay would be an obvious candidate.

I think Hobbies and Memories would be good choices and also something that could reflect where pensioners can look for help such as maybe something as simple as a 'Help' Board

I would be happy to help moderate if everyone else is happy for me to do it.

Thankyou Hugh and Camanito for the encouraging answers.

Looking at that posting from Chris if one or two more sections are added especially the Memories one I will gladly add to it, that is IF the members stilll want me after starting all this going.  :-[

I think Chrisjay would be an excellent choice as a moderator.

Thank you Maywalk

It is always very difficult to join a forum that has established members as we know each others sence of humour and quirky bits and we all should (and I hope we do) remember how we felt on joining.
I know it takes some time and patience to get up to speed ang grasp what everyone is talking about and then there are the pointless but enjoyable three word and five word threads which just tax the brain to come up with the follow on that enables someone else to carry on (a bit like mind reading) :-)

Anyway I know Chris is tweaking the forum and there is now a Memories Board so get posting and we can follow your lead :-)
