During the war we got 2 oz a week which I used for anything I could get. Lucky bags filled the gap. Before the war my favourites were lollipops and sticks of rock. Mainly because the shop where I bought them put a ticket inside the wrapper of some that gave the recipient a large lolly. Of course, I never found one in mine and I never knew anybody who did. My memories mainly centre round Christmas and those novelty sweets. The kids nowadays don't know what they are missing.

does anybody remember meloids(tiny little black sweets)? I bought some menthol snuff (white) once when I was a kid, sniffed some up my nose and the next thing I knew was my nose started pouring with blood.

Do you remember Arrow bars. They were lovely chewy toffee and lasted ages. I swear I remember them being a ha'penny then they went up to a penny.

I didn't want the last post to go to a moron troll.

Even Cadbury will be a distant memory at some stage -
well it would be if the brand was not so strong...
