Royal Wedding Security

While ever we waste money like this we'll never get decent pensions.

Also how many doses of this cancer drug would it have paid for?

Many millions of people in UK and through out the world will enjoy the royal wedding and bring in a lot of trade through tourist The police and security forces still get paid doing this or some thing else and gives a lot of good training. I for one don't think its a waste of money although I am very unlikly to watch it Phil.

I agree with Hugh they would be paid regardless and the forces are paid for a 24 x 7 day/week so it costs nothing extra for them

Does anyone think that by having a wedding without all the pomp and ceremony would channel that money into pensions?  It would more likely go on more MP expenses and over seas aid we certainly would not see it

As it draws closer I really, as I have said before, just be able to enjoy as I have enough doom and gloom working on our campaign so please moan all you want after and I will probably join you on Ann's outdated hair and the scruffy men (no morning suit for Dave as he wants to be seen as representing the people in his £3,500 Saville Row suit) and he represents us in the ceremony, please the way he is going he is going to be the biggest disappointment in this decade

Policing the event is expected to cost millions, with officers receiving double time because the wedding day has been made a bank holiday.

Caminito stop stirring as you know you are going to be watching it just like the rest of us  ;D

You do not have to be a royalist to enjoy a piece of history that will be watched by billions world wide and no one does pageant as well as we do so lets be proud for once we have so much more to be ashamed of not least how we treat our old people in care homes and this wedding will not change that but those same people in care homes will love the occasion  :)

No , we get an extra quid on our pensions that week and those that want to spend it on the "Match of the day" can do !
Others can buy an extra loaf of bread instead  ::)

OK , I will not tease you anymore . I hope that you enjoy the occasion
It does seem like an awful lot of money to spend in these hard times. As well as money lost because of the bank holiday.
Yes, my wife will watch and I will record it for posterity. I have Charles & Diana's wedding and Diana's funeral in my archive !
I hope that the extremists do not disrupt events ,though I have a feeling that something will happen.
Times have changed so much and big events like this are an opportunity for the trouble makers to get publicity .
Anyway ,once again , I hope that you enjoy the day. I will probably look in at it from time to time !
Get the nibbles ready and no dashing to the loo , you might miss something  ???

 ;D ;D

Thank you I too will have a chilled bottle and some nibbles but I will not be wearing a union jack outfit or silly hat  ;D

I do agree the cost of security is very high but it is a sign of our times - the Popes visit cost as much if not more and we did not seem to complain as much then.

The only time I can remember being 'glued to the TV' was the day when the Chilean miners were brought out.

I watched every single one, but then I'm from a mining community & although never a miner I did have to make underground visits as part of my job & nearly got buried because mines don't make any allowances for visitors when the roof falls in.
