Pre-emptive Arrests of Anarchists
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:10:28 AM »
Whether you agree with their views or not is irrelevant, but I didn't realise that you could be arrested & detained in the UK for something that you might do that goes against the establishment.

It's a pity these powers weren't used to detain the tube bombers but of course the people blown to bits didn't matter compared to a Royal Wedding!

I don't think any of us can tut-tut at North Korea when the carefully orchestrated crowds cheer & applaud Kim what's his name.

These were squatters and if they were squatting in your house you would be glad to have them out, and if they are terrorist squatters all the better

I have got a squatter in a property I own & the police couldn't care less, in fact I've been warned not to go in mob-handed & chuck them out or I'll be arrested!!!!!!!!

I'm having to go through the normal legal route.

Anyway it doesn't say they've been removed from the squat, it says they've been detained & banned from entering the wedding area  until the parade's over.

It's good to see that an MP is questioning the police's use of their stop & search powers to detain these people. Anybody who doesn't feel a bit uneasy about this obviously can't see the big picture because it's the thin end of a potentially very large wedge.

In a true democracy you can't have a bit of freedom of speech & movement any more than you can be a bit pregnant, you either are or you aren't.

I remember my parents smugly commenting on Soviet Russia's crowd control measures & saying that it couldn't happen here. Well how wrong they were!!

It's also a shame to see the police becoming politically motivated lackys of the wealthy classes.
