As a retired nurse I would suggest that 'bed blockers' may be in hospitals due to the reduction of adequate residential support and a failure to fund care in the community.
I am new to this site and am finding it interesting.

Hi Bernadette and welcome

We are not debating why there are 'bed blockers' but the terminology of describing an elderly person in this way.

We do not use derogatory and inflammatory language to describe neonatal when there is a shortage of facilities nor prisoners or ethnic minorities and the language used to describe the elderly is unacceptable in to days society it seems the only ones except from political correctness is the elderly in any situation

The cuts in care facilities is another fight which we will have to consider taking on but one fight at a time for now

Again welcome and I hope you enjoy being with us and we welcome your input
