I don't remember saving the stamps although I do remember them. We saved Embassy cigarette coupns mostly but I still can't remember what we got with them.

I remember saving them like crazy, When I got married I had enough for a Moulinex Food Mixer on a stand and a moulinex coffee grinder. Somehow, Argos isn't the same!

I collected them but my Mum always claimed them. I don't remember what if anything she got for them.  ???

Some mentioned argos , ??? is that where we traded in the stamps ??? I did wonder, I remember getting a wooden knife rack, never used it :)

These were Green Shield Stamp Shops where they redeemed the stamps.

They were re-branded Argos when the stamps lost their lick.

Strange how a business developed.

Argos themselves have changed over the years and it goes
without saying you need to check around for prices.

The first thing I ever saved for was an electric blanket it took ages.I remember I had boxes and draws filled with them.................thought I was very posh when I finally got it.
The other things I saved were Embassy coupons...got a hairdryer...how good was that.
Ahhhhh the good old days...................

As you brought up cigarette coupons.

I am sure some people only smoked to get the coupons.

The logic of not smoking and saving up for the item didn't
seem to come into it...

The best scheme was the Coop Divi, it is coming  back now, but it will never be the same.

I have also got an old Ration book, and some petrol coupons, I wonder if I could still use them at the Petrol Station next time I go.

Clearing my aunt's house after her death in 2007, I came across loads of Green shield Stamps. Amazing what folk hold on to.

I also remember when you got glassware when filling up your petrol tank!

I redeemed mine for wilkinson sword shears and various garden tools - still giving sterling service apart from one pair of shears which need a new bearing - any ideas
