Fizzy drinks
« on: June 29, 2011, 05:39:38 PM »
Today is a happy day for me as I cannot abide diet drinks and have a friend who is always saying I should have diet drinks as they are better for your health so am I happy this has been proved not to be the case and diet drinks may actually do more damage to your health not that I would stop drinking my Tango Cherry (I don't drink tea or coffee) but I can do it now without feeling guilty while you have your half a glass of beer  ;D ;D ;D

Also the stick thin people who have always made this mature lady feel envious are more likely to suffer health problems in later years so no worry about dieting either   ;D ;D ;D

Great day for 'normal' people  ;D ;D ;D

Chris,
You are right to not like diet drinks, the sweetener they use in them has been banned in most countries because it is harmfull.  ;DStick with the Sugar at least you know what you are dealing with.

I believe there is no "good" or "bad" just everything in moderation, who are we to deny what our body craves? :-\ We will all end up in a box one day anyway, so enjoy what you can, now.  ;) ;)
Never look down on anyone, unless it is to offer your hand to help them up.

I had a similarly smug moment last week. I like my salt, not to excess but I like my food to taste. 'er indoors and her sister (a nurse who knows it all) have been giving me grief for years about my salt intake so I took great pleasure in showing them the headline stating the "Experts" had (Again) got it wrong and salt is actually good for you and a necessary part of ones diet. (Smug smiley)

Oh we are getting silly now !Some of the artificial sweeteners like NutraSweet are changed in the body to Formaldehyde. Used for pickling body parts.  ??? But it is a poison which the body can not get rid of.
Usefull when you feed your grandchildren ?
I will try and find the report I have read and publish it for all to read.

Oh, we have got to be silly some days .
A day without laughter is a day wasted  ;D

BUT SERIOUSLY...
The artificial sweetener aspartame has been the subject of several controversies since its initial approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1974. The FDA approval of aspartame was highly contested, with critics alleging that the quality of the initial research supporting its safety was inadequate and flawed and that conflicts of interest marred the approval of aspartame.
It's not a natural product , it's a chemical !
The “Pandora’s box of chameleon-like toxins and tumor agents”
Aspartame was never and cannot be proven to be safe. It is not and cannot be a diet aid because the formaldehyde (from the breakdown of the 10% methanol) gets stored in the fat along with some water. The National Soft Drink Association developed a 30-page protest (in the ’80s) that mentioned the fact that aspartame in a beverage was unstable
The phenylalanine breaks down into diketopiperazine (DKP), a known tumor agent, and it is the reason for the FDA mandated “PHENYLKETONURICS: Contains phenylalanine” (PKU) warning label. Diketopiperazine was the major impediment to approval
YET ..it is in a lot of the food & drink that we buy at the supermarket !
