BNP winning two seats
« on: June 12, 2009, 09:47:32 PM »
What do you think about the BNP winning two seats at the elections

Labour came third, i think personally that labour were bound to lose something with the expenses scandal.

BNP and other parties such as the Green party had the upper edge in all of this.

We'd like to hear your views and get as many posts as possible on this.

The BNP were elected by proportional representation

All UK Political Parties agree with this, on paper at least.

On a European Level, I doubt that the BNP are the party on the extreme right.

The upside of this is that more people will be more interested in European Political Matters.

They should be of course because we have hundreds of MPs twiddling their thumbs
as the most major and impacting decisions are made in the European Parliament.

What do I think of them being elected? This is a democracy and they are a registered
Political Party.

The answer would be the same for any other Political Party.

I agree with John,we live in a democracy.I'm offended by the hate preachers spouting their bile, and the great unwashed shouting abuse and throwing eggs at a BNP press conference, and all done on benefits, but that's democracy in action.

The BNP are right "out there" on the perifery of British politics and they know it. Because we live and have to work in a free and democratic society we have to accept the risk that extreme groups might get a seat or two now and then.

Many of the people who vote for such groups do so because they are disenchanted with the status-quo and they are looking for a bolt-hole to go to to find some kind of radical thinking.

I am sure that very few of the people that actually vote for groups like the BNP are actually racists; they are just misguided and lost individuals who have bought into the plausible rhetoric of this VERY dangerous bunch of fundamental extremists.

They will never be a force worth anything in British politics and as soon as the middle-of-the-road politicians start to do things right this obnoxious bunch will fade away and die.
