Who remembers.....
« on: October 02, 2011, 10:31:18 PM »
Harry Sycombe with his zany humour and his wonderful voice, the Goons I loved listening to them on the radio, also Joe Friday in the Dragnet, Lost in Space, Dick Barton Special Agent. Anybody else remember their favourites ?

The first record I ever bought was ‘If I Ruled the World’ be Harry Secombe, mainly because it was Christmas, and it was the only top twenty record they had let in the shop!!! I met an old school pal earlier this year, and he reminded me of this purchase, very embarrassing for a teenager at the time.

Goons, brilliant.

As a child, I had a ‘Dragnet style’ toy gun.

I remember listening to ‘Round the Horn’ on the radio, round about, late lunchtime on a Sunday (I think), with rambling Sid Rumpold and the Shamus Android Show. And I still use some quotes from the ‘The Navy Lark’, when on a boat I love to say things like, ‘left hand down a bit’, or talk about the ‘sharp or blunt end’.

Sparky, it's a long time since anybody called me a youngster but thank you anyway ;D ;D ;D

I do remember the Ovaltines  little boys and girls.  You sound just like my big brother when you say about being handsome and clever that's exactly what he would say.

Gennaio I forgot about Quatermass, I used to hide but still stayed in the room to hear what was going on!!! That was the equivalent of Dr Who today I suppose.  I used to get the Schoolgirl Magazine each week is that the same one? I loved it and each Christmas I was given the annual and the Crystal magazine as well.

Kids don't know what they are missing these days ;D

Oh Dottie, Dragnet was a must and Quatermass was very SCARY!  I also remember having a crush on the gorgeous Herbert Lomm but I can`t for the life of me remember what he was in!

I remember my father going to visit my mother in hospital where she had just acquired my baby brother - children were not allowed in so I was sent to sit on the grass outside the ward window with my copy of Robin.
Can you imagine leaving a 4 year old outside on her own these days???
