The first record I ever bought was ‘If I Ruled the World’ be Harry Secombe, mainly because it was Christmas, and it was the only top twenty record they had let in the shop!!! I met an old school pal earlier this year, and he reminded me of this purchase, very embarrassing for a teenager at the time.
Goons, brilliant.
As a child, I had a ‘Dragnet style’ toy gun.
I remember listening to ‘Round the Horn’ on the radio, round about, late lunchtime on a Sunday (I think), with rambling Sid Rumpold and the Shamus Android Show. And I still use some quotes from the ‘The Navy Lark’, when on a boat I love to say things like, ‘left hand down a bit’, or talk about the ‘sharp or blunt end’.
