Union Flag.
« on: November 15, 2011, 04:54:03 PM »
Oh dear! Mr Henry of Gamston (Nottingham) is offended by the flying of our union flag in his village and is fighting his local council to have it removed. When it was pointed out to him by the interviewer that it is a sign of patriotism he said it was still offensive to other ethnic minorities! :o

Rita

I saw that interview last night on TV and both Roy and I were shouting at the TV!!!

What on earth is going on? He stated that because he was black he felt that because it was flying outside the town hall permanently he felt intimidated, well Mr Gamston all I can say is I feel intimidated when I am being forced to stop flying my country's flag because of people like you.

I am proud of my country and my flag

Well said Dottie it is the UKs flag.
I would suggest that if the Gentleman In question does not like it he should move to somewhere that flies a different Flag/

I often wonder what would happen if these people went back to the Country from which they came and complained about their own flag. :-X

So True Oldtimer it is the lack of direction from our Politicions but then they haven't a clue where they are going anyway, so what chance do we have. ???

The thing is that the union flag has been hijacked by too many extremist groups in the past and now that proud flag can be mistaken for the standard of the likes of the BNP or even some Neo-Nazi groups.

Of course we who are not extremists know that the flag does not stand for extremism but sadly it HAS been sullied by being adopted by these distasteful groups.
