Yes GADZY, as I already said...."most of us oldsters DO know what the Union Flag stands for"..... but we still cannot stop it being sullied by the hard right-wing extremists using it for their own disgusting ends.

I think that this is the main reason why many public entities no longer want to fly it as - to some - it is seen as the emblem of the extremist haters in our midst.

It is because it can be portrayed as a symbol of hate and of bigotry and racism that the politically-correct types do not want to see it used in this manner.

I can see where they are coming from.

So I supose we will just have to stick with our Own National Flags then.

No mate, not at all...I think we should take it back from them and not allow any single  or extremist entity to use it for these disgusting ends ever again.

I am proud of being Scottish and that is why I fly the Saltire below my signature but I am well aware that if I want to feel BRITISH too I have to recognise that the flag of St Andrews is just one integral part of the Union flag.
