Party Conferences 2009.
« on: September 12, 2009, 02:50:20 PM »
In one of the richest countries in Europe we have lowest state pension. £7,500 for a couple which is less than a third of the national average wage and  also the  non-means tested maximum expenses allowed and frequently claimed by many of our MPs. Pensioners pensioners must bring pressure on all the political parties to admit the current policy of means-testing the country's older population has failed to end pensioner poverty.

Todays Pensioners are probably the last generation to have lived through the depression of the 30’s and World War 11. It would be an utter failure of any government or political party that fails to acknowledge through their policies the plight and right of these in the twilight of their lives to a reasonable standard of living.

This must be acknowledged and transparent through their policies (manifesto) and not buried under meaningless phrases such as  they aspire, desire, wish, will attempt. We have heard all this before. What we do need is that each party includes in it manifesto a plan of action to  increase the state pension substantially for the lifetime of the next government. and that all the party candidates include this committment in their election propaganda.

The really glaring aspect of this is that the United Kingdom is the most highly taxed in the World.

Be it 85% on road fuel or 50% on Income. Plus more Stealth Taxes then you can shake a stick at.

There must be people who do not even know they are paying Stealth Tax.

We have the largest debt that the UK has ever had, presided over by Blair the Liar and Brown the Clown.

Insulting them? No they have insulted me long before that and many more...

John, Actually re- income tax, we pay the lowest in Europe, where they dont have our extortionate and unjust local tax system, or stealth taxes, people p[ay higher income tax according to what they earn, and EU government's use much more of their GNP than this and successive British government's.

We also have a low dept compared to Germany and France who have more.

Since New Labour came to power in 1997 whilst embracing the right wing policies that M. Thatcher gave us, and John Major didnt have the time to reverse, New Labour continue to run Britain on the cheap via a right wing low income tax agenda, but with stealth taxation which will always hurt the less well off.
