I don't believe it!!!
« on: January 31, 2012, 10:23:07 PM »
Seen on another forum to which I subscribe:

Someone enquired whether they could still get UK jobseekers allowance whilst in Spain.  My natural inclination was to say "no way", surely it's just what it says on the tin, an allowance whilst actively seeking a job.  Apparently not:

Quote
Leaving the UK
You may be able to get contribution-based JSA in Spain for up to three months if:

you are entitled to contribution-based JSA on the day you go abroad
you have registered as a jobseeker for at least four weeks before you leave
you are available for work and actively seeking work in Great Britain up to the day you leave
you are going abroad to look for work.

This is crazy.  Surely enough money is being wasted on paying benefits in the UK, without trusting people not to spend 3 months on the beach before coming back and just saying "sorry no work available".  This is prompted by someone wanting to go to Spain where the jobless numbers for Spanish nationals are huge and many ex-pat's are returning because the Spanish won't employ foreigners at the moment (if only we were the same).

Now that really does take the biscuit!!!!

I did not know this, but it makes me wonder now why some people who I knew in Spain whilst living there were always returning at least 2/3 times a year, they were of a workable age and always seemed to have money in their pockets but never worked!!!

Ask ED Milllipeeed  I believe that it was one of his committees responsible or it may have been Kinnock, admittedly the EU had laid down the rules - Human Rights - (put your own expletive here)

In the paper today; The police have escorted a new "caravan" (actually a permanent park home) onto an illegal "Gypsy" caravan site threatening villagers parking legally that their cars will be towed away if they do not remove them so that the caravan can get through.  We have, in the past, suffered from these so Called Gypsies around here.  Now to prevent them taking over public space illegally we have our village green bollarded off and all potential stopping places banked up with earth ruining the openness of the countryside.  When are the Government going to deal with this pestilence?

Ah, but I wonder what would happen if YOU tried to site a caravan or mobile home illegally.  >:(
Never look down on anyone, unless it is to offer your hand to help them up.

How incredible. We now have such a liberal society that the rights of travellers on an illegal site trump those of innocent villagers.

When is this all going to end?

You hear all kinds of bilge from David Cameron but he hardly ever touches on those areas — such as  traveller-related issues — that cause most upset in our society.

Is there no way to hurry this through the courts so these people know they will have only weeks, rather than years, of causing trouble?

Come on Mr Cameron, please express your outrage at these kind of actions. Do something that shows you are one of us.

Your continuing silence indicates that you probably aren’t.
