LOL.....that's a trick used by ivanhoe when asked to supply real facts. Are you another ivanhoe ? Will you be forever castigating this government then voting for them.

No mate, personalities aside, I castigate this government because they need it and it is a long time since I voted Labour, even IF I am a Socialist at heart.

For people who regularly enlighten themselves about what is going on these "facts" are easily corroborated without going to any effort.

As I often say in situations like this....."There is no-one so blind as those that WILL NOT see !"

I know you of old mcgill/ivanhoe. You have found someone who you hope will provide an answer to your spurious claims. Let's see if papaumau plays ball with you.

Here's your chance to prove me wrong.

Just as I thought, you really could not care less about the elderly.

Still no sign of those facts being posted by either you or papaumau.

Where are the stats you and papaumau said the government had on the subject. The fact is ivanhoe that there are not millions of pensioners starving in this country.

Your video is a joke...a rather sick one which is why it attracts so few comments.

Hi Radar 41,

I can give you chapter and verse on My situation, I am approaching my third winter without heating or hot water. I cannot afford to have my boiler replaced, nor my washing machine or tumble drier, all of which are defunct.

Unfortunately, there are few pensioners who benefit from low interest rates, most of us have paid off our mortgages years ago, and our savings (if we have any) have been eroded by those same low interest rates.

I have to choose between heating one room of my house, or feeding myself, and I have no alternative to looking for the lowest priced foods, which are usually full of fat and salt, and therefore less than healthy.

I don't spend money on clothes or makeup, I haven't had a holiday in fifteen years, and I often go  barefoot in the summer months to save my shoeleather for the bad weather.

I no longer drive, as I cannot afford the costs.

I am of the opinion that this Government would love most of the pensioners to starve or freeze to death. Think of the savings it could make!
What do you mean, my Birth Certificate has expired?!

The trouble is the government are'nt saving anything, because means testing pensioners on a low state
pension is costing 10 times more than a decent state pension re- linked to national average wages.

Inside every older person is a younger person

You said this, ""Think of the savings it could make""

I responded with a fact to disprove government saving anything.

We can see that the Government has a vast hole in it's collective pocket, down which goes vast amounts of money which could be better redirected elsewhere.

Just like most things in this life we will only get change when we do something about it for ourselves.
We, as pensioners, are being touted as the fastest growing social group and in a few years will be at or near the top of the pile.
This growing influence should be used to our advantage by collectively demanding any political party that wants our vote must pay attention to our interests.
Sadly looking at the diversity of opinions on this forum the old adage of divide and conquer still applies.
