Wrinkles, What you clearly fail to understand is that the monetarist free market low "income tax" system we have had in this counry since the 80's needs high unemployment among the masses to work.

Why do you think the Thatcher government deliberately created over 3 million unemployed during her term of office ?, dont you recall the right hon Norman Lamont saying it was a price worth paying ?

Right wing monetarist government's need to control the economy, and the only way they can do this is via controlling the people, because when you are on the dole, you are hardlly likely to strike.

So are you saying left wing goveernments don't control their economies ?

The Maggon started to sell off the nation's Family Jewels in the 80's when she privatised BT and BA, then the Building Societies decided to become banks and give members shares.

Gradually, almost all our nationalised Industries have been sold off, and the shares bought up by different countries, so nowadays we don't have the National Pot of money which helped support the loss-makers such as the NHS. Gordo sold off the Gold reserve for a pitiful price.

We are a third world country in all but name, and our politicians are living in a cloud-cuckoo land of Fading Imperial glory.

I can't see any Party getting is out of this one.

What do you mean, my Birth Certificate has expired?!

What I mean by "handling the economy" is providing workers with a minimum wage, and giving pensioners a decent state pension so everybody is able to contirbute to the economy because the system under "traditional" Labour was fair.

Thatcher handled the economy by creating over 3 million unemployed, and by reducing the state pension by linking it to inflation and not national average wages, and she created a rich and poor devide into the bargain, that's not handling the economy, that's outright barbarism.

There is a rich/poor divide in every country on this planet. Always has been and always will be.

Are you unemployed ? as you appear to have the ability to respond very quickly, day or night.

No, but Thatcher was and is the great Satan.

When that woman was voted into power in 1979, the British Tory voting public threw away he rule book on caring.

Oh! I suppose that it will be Ok again now though. Gordon and Peter, I have no doubt, will have written a new one. Or perhaps they have recovered the Old labour manual on caring, the one the unions read during the winter of discontent.
:o Oh! sorry we aren't supposed to mention that are we, Oh! but never mind you can blame it on Thatcher, it's bound to be her fault  ;)
