It is emotionally more complicated for humans.

Family structure and even inheritance are more then 'Tiddles the Cat' scenario.

The nearest many get to it must be the turning off of life support machines -
but even this appears to have more to do with keeping someone going
for their body parts.

I suppose everyone has the option now of taking their own life at some
stage. But there must be some other resolve especially by those who are
terminally ill and physically able to do this.

It must be a fact that most people who do take their own lives are
suffering mental aberrations but otherwise physically fit.

And I say that often it is the other way round where they are physically at their wits end with pain and lack of dignity and yet they are still fully compos-mentis as far as their minds are concerned.

Many people in this situation are left unable to carry out their own deliverance and they need help from a loved one or a brave medic to do the deed.

This is where it gets so terribly difficult as anyone who helps a dying and in pain loved one to move on is always going to be breaking the law even if they may not actually get prosecuted.

This grey area needs to be sorted out right now so that we can get rid of the worry that we might not be able to go when we are ready to.

It is for reasons of mental acuity - or not, later on - that people like me write living wills when we are of sound mind and it is time that these living wills were recognises as legal documents and adhered to by the authorities.
