The grey vote.....
« on: October 23, 2009, 02:08:46 PM »
Hi David, nice to meet you !

There is no doubt that many people in Britain - including the elderly - suffer from apathy as they cannot in many cases see how they can do anything against a government hell-bent on keeping them down in poverty.

BUT...unlike many other groups in Britain the elderly are now getting organised and they are becoming more active in self-determinating desires.

This is known in the trade as the "silver surfers" or "the grey vote" and now the government watchdogs KNOW for certain that we are coming together with the internet as our weapon and that we are getting organsied enough to become a demographic that needs to be listened to.

They know that we are less likely to be effected by the general malaise that the country is suffering from as we ARE set in our minds and once we make our minds up we expect to be listened to.

It is true nevertheless that many elderly voters vote as their ancestors did, which means that we are not easily swayed by the fly-by-night politicans that promise us the heavens if we give them our vote. It is the "grey" vote that has the greatest power to make or change the political balance and maybe this time we will see this vote getting out to surprise the ones that think their election is a foregone conclusion. Even if it only finishes up as a hung parliament we will have achieved something worth remembering.

To moderator.....SORRY

This topic was placed here as my answer to David on the "pensioners deserve" thread timed out.

As I am not allowed to delete this post could you please do it for me ?

I did manage to reply to David's post using a different technique.

Regards......
