My pensioner wife and myself have recently been victims of this syndrome as my duel-fuel supplier, namely The Scottish Hydro Board - who we have incidentally been with for nye-on twenty years - has refused to admit to a billing error that has meant that over the period from August 2008 to August 2009 they have had
£1,248 of payments out of my wallet for electricity alone. ( NB...the electricity meter is correct as it has been tested via the use of a check-meter ).
Something else is seriously wrong here and no matter how I plead for them to examine their very complex billing methods they are intransigent that my small and very efficient two-bedroomed semi-detached villa, ( most of which is gas-fuelled ), HAS consumed that amount of electricity. ( strangely, it has never consumed that much electricity at any similar time before ! ).
As this Hydro Board/Scottish and Southern Energy Group saga is so complex I will not copy it all to here.
