Without doubt they are - if there is any common sense.

I was trying to think what is good about them.

Sure they promise a lot, they all do.

But when you are in power, you either deliver those promises
and show real leadership. The latter is not proven by making
unpopular decisions (as wrong as and tainted as they may be).

Try the Pensions Credit, and the Winter Fuel allowance, and the free bus passes, and the free tv licence for those aged 75 and over, try free prescriptions.

All this would be taken away by the Tories.

Tell me about Bus Passes - they were a local Council domain from ever increasing Council Tax.

Labour expanded on this and within 12 months reduced it.

Now they are playing with ages you can have one.

Loads of spin - then it is reduction.

These are all tax concessions.

Excepting Bus Passes that are provided by Council Tax (at great expense which turns into good profit for the Bus Companies)

Prescription Charges (Tax) is not collected in Wales

Not being collected in Scotland from 2011

Only £3 in Northern Ireland and not being collected from April 2010

While in England - it just keeps being increased - £7.20 pence

Only a part concession for England - who pay through the nose along
with having a drugs postcode lottery most of their lives.

Labour are increasing the age of a Bus Pass and Free Prescriptions to 65.

Shouting how wonderful the Bus Pass was - then reducing its benefit ever since.

Barring England the rest of the UK will be on Free Prescriptions (no tax) full stop.
