Trying hard not to be patronising here...but...you know me eh ?

Flu viruses - including the variant of Bird Flu that went to Mexico and mutated in pigs to become Swine Flu has slowly spread around the globe in a quiet pandemic and has - typically of influenza - slipped quietly into the background.
This is how all flu viruses behave and if they are not virulent enough to kill millions like the Spanish flu or the Asian flu did they often sit quietly and eventually can come back in a more dangerous form.
The fact that a large proportion of the British population have now been vaccinated against this strain of swine-flu means that even if it has not actually been defeated it has been stopped in it's tracks FOR NOW.
I would not become complacent about the fact that we have not heard much about it for a while as it COULD come back with a vengeance in a new form that the latest vaccines cannot beat.
Just because swine flu in it's first form did not seem to attack elderly people as much as flu usually does does not mean that we will not be at risk the next time it comes around.
