This letter is called give and take. By R J Taylor Merseyside.
On reaching my 80th birthday, I received a letter from the Department of Works and Pensions informing me that I would receive an increase in my pension of 25p per week. So the wife and I decided to dash out and celebrate.
Before we could do so, however, I received another letter telling me that there would be an adjustment to my pension credit allowance, resulting in it being reduced by 10p a week.
We decided to go ahead and celebrate anyway, only to receive another letter from the Benefit Agency, to tell us that due to the change in circumstances", our Council Tax Allowance was to be reduced by 2p a week, and our Rent Allowance by 9p a week.
At this point we hung up our coats and decided to wait for the letter from the Inland Revenue, asking us if they could have a share in the 4p we had left.
