Bank, Bankers & Leeches
« on: January 19, 2010, 07:53:55 AM »
Once more we see the ineptitude of this government; RBS is preparing to give their executives one and a half billion pounds in bonuses. How dare this government allow this to happen?

It is no good whatsoever in the government saying that these bonuses are not tax payer’s money but money made from profits that have been made since the crash. If it hadn’t been for tax payer’s money then they would have been out of a job and would have made no profits at all.

Their first responsibility is to pay back what they owe, over and above this, I as a tax payer am a share holder in this failed company and I want these bonuses STOPPED. If they are not stopped I vote to withdraw all tax payers’ money from this company and send it into receivership which it should have been in the first place. If this means the loss of jobs – then so be it! If this were to happen then it would be this Prime Ministers fault for not taking action against these greedy government workers. For that's what they are now, as the tax payer has the controlling interest.

When does this Prime Minister intend to listen to the share holders of this company (tax payer’s) and do something about the none producing leeches that have caused this crash? The answer to this question is as with all other things - never.

Yes taking a 84 percent stake in a business and
insisting on 'no say' and then trying to put
a tax on after the event - is plain stupid.

The hallmark of an incompetent government.

I feel that RBS paying bonuses after having been bailed out by the Government on our behalf is reprehensible behaviour. Nobody should be rewarded for bad behaviour.

Not making excuses for anybody you understand but we have to be aware that the people at the top of all of these institutions wield great power at that strata of society.

It does not matter WHERE they work, if they are set into that "strata" they have many powerful friends that support their fat-cat ways of doing.

I agree that the present British government should have shown more courage when dealing with the CEOs of these partly-or-wholly publicly-owned institutions just as President Obama has promised to do in America and it is quite shocking to see them just doing as they please as far as the bonus culture is concerned.

I feel that this is just another of the many nails that are going to be hammered into the coffin of the New-Labour government.
