Homeward Bound.
« on: February 14, 2010, 05:24:43 PM »
The dream of retirering to the sun as now become a night mare with the cost of living and pound losing value agains't the euro. Many who have rented have now packed there bags and on their way. Others who have bought are stuck in unwanted homes and trying to make ends meet. We were planning on moving but thankfully changed our minds at the last minute.

Depends on what Country you are actually retiring to, or even talking about...

John ,my Sister bought a house in Spain 10 years ago,
and lived the dream, fortunately she kept her house in the UK.and can return when she wants, although she knows she will never sell her house in Spain.
For people on a fixed income it is difficult here, but its harder in Spain,

It obviously is if you keep a home in the UK.

Council Tax is the killer - contribution taxed and taxed over again.

Which just leads to overall increase year in year out.

May get frozen in Election Year - for the gullible.
