Over 70? What are you doing to keep active?
« on: March 25, 2010, 04:29:25 PM »
Any of you guys/gals out there also over 70? What are you doing to keep fit, active and healthy?

Me? I work three full days a week at a local, very popular tourist site, sometimes as a cashier and sometimes demonstrating stone-age survival skills.

When at home I am on call with the Ambulance service as a Community First Responder, I walk my dog every day for at least an hour, I help with training at the local yacht club and I go skiing once a year, more if I can afford it. I also like to cook.

Apart from that I just laze around!

CC, I feel for you mine, range from six to fourteen - but think of the memories - the joyous laughter of young people is a good defence against vagaries of tempus fugit

Unfortunately didn't get too involved as we lived overseas during her early years. You certainly have your hands full, a bit like my sister in NZ with eleven grand children!!

Over 70.  I do try to keep fit but it is hard in the winter.   However in the summer I play bowls at a local park, as well as looking after my 3 year old grandaughter 3 mornings a week, while her mother works part-time.  Anyone like to reply?  This is my first venture into a social site.

Welcome Pharri. I think I'm the oldest one on here at the moment - pushing 72 - and at the moment i am in Whistler, Canada for ten days skiing. It has been great, snow every day and quite a few sunny ones. Did more than three hours on the slopes today but unfortunately have to leave here day after tomorrow, back to Somerset.

Keep any kind of exercise up for as long as the old body will let you!

Well CC you certainly have a full active enjoyable life which you should enjoy for the next 10 years or so. I enjoy my morning trips to the GYM to swim and exercise with many our age group. I love scuba diving and next month I am off to South Africa to full fill a dream and dive with sharks :) :)

Hey have a great time Hugh. Just remember that sharks don't have to go to the surface to breath and they can also eat under water!

Well I wonder if I'm the youngest here at 62 and 3 days to answer the question I walk Jac twice a day and run round after him the rest of the time - have to shop for his food, clean up his toys (he loves his teddies), make his meals, wash his towels and blankets, give him his pills and now injections, do I miss my ex husband only for the fact he cleaned up after himself  ;D ;D

Well C-C - my compliments, also to all posters who are making the most of retirement. I have a few years to go at 67, my time is mostly being spent at the mo in packing up to move back to UK - otherwise, I enjoy a daily walk on our cliffs and beaches, my great passion after my garden, which is sadly being left to new owners, is cooking for friends - I'm currently into Moroccan and French style dishes. I also belong to a global community service group and time is spent looking into and after community needs.
