Yesterday , I had a session of, explosive exercise  often used by elite athletes  The types of exercises used to build this power are movements that  require a maximum or near maximum power output from the athlete in a short amount of time.
After 15 minutes , I  managed  to get the cork out of the bottle of red wine ! ::)
I envy you ,i find it is to much for me now i tend to buy the screwtop bottles. But i must admit during my first 15 months of retirement i have let my weight go back up.Went for my yearly check up in Febuary expecting to be told of,but they were more concerned about my blood sugar, after test in hospital i found out last Tuesday i have got type 2 diabetes so i am going to increase my exercise and change my diet. If anyone is in the same boat would be glad of some advice, but exercise has to be gentle as i get out of breath easily due to heart attack 10 years ago and allthough i love going in the water i cant swim.I have not had chance yet to find out if my local pool does exercise classes for none swimmers.

Well Bromer the first thing I did and recommend you do is purchase an heart rate monitor. This allows you to exercise and keep a watchful eye on your heart rate. As you get fitter you will be able to increase the amount of exercise you do. If you have the money join a good GYM where they will set you an exercise routine to suit you. I have seen many people like your self walking up and down the swimming pool which is very good exercise. Most GYM pools are only one metre deep.

I'm not yet 70, I'm only 66 but since my soon-to-be wife & best friend is only 48 I guess that'll keep me young.

Thanks Chris, she's petite, really attractive & looks in her late 30's so it's amusing watching people's reactions to us.

Caminito you are all nice and when your not I tell you  ;D ;D

Hugh it is surprising how losing those two has made this forum so much better and we have grown up discussions now that do not result in insults and nasty remarks being thrown at anyone who might possibly dare disagree.

I'm certainly not a  George Clooney lookalike & for months I wondered why she wanted to be with me but apparently she feels safe & valued. We also have very similar senses of humour & can often say something that the other is thinking at the same time.
