NHS going to take an hammering but for the good, My wife was a nurse all her working life. Managers were increasing in numbers while nurses were on the decrease that I think will be put right.

THAT, my friend, happened as a result of Thatcher attempting to privatise the NHS. After she was finished interfering the numbers of bean-counters and non-clinical managers soared and we are still stuck with much of that legacy.

If Cameron and his cohorts ever get their hands on the NHS I guarantee that they will finish what Thatcher started all those years ago.

Cameron sounds plausible with his "we will look after the NHS" shpiel, but I can tell you now that the still-active Thatcherites in the Tory darkened places  - who are pulling his strings - will ensure that we will not be able to recognise this vital service after a few years of ripping the heart out of it.

Cameron a different person in a different era and not blind to the problems in the NHS.
If he gets into power and damages the NHS further we will kick him out in 5 years. Until then lets give the man a chance to repair the damage by the last 3 PMs.
LABOUR CHANGED TO NEW LABOUR
TORIES  COULD CHANGE TO ?????????? wait and see

This doom and gloom really gets up my nose.

I get your point Hugh...BUT... Both the Labourites AND the Tories have had their chances to get it right and they have BOTH failed.

I do not see why we should give ANY of them another chance and the plausible and "acceptable" face of Conservatism that Cameron displays does not impress me one bit.

You have to remember Hugh, that Cameron is a fresh new face with NO experience and he is only a front man for all of the Thatcherites that are behind him that are pushing his buttons and working his strings.

He is as real as a cardboard cut-out of himself might be !

I am just not buying it !

That's not so easy for people who cannot forget the Tory years, and for people who know politics inside out.

All I can say if Tories do get in, they do a good job and make amends for your bad years under M Thatcher.

If the Toris do get in, which they wont, nothing will change in this country, and the reason is that the Defict is now the red herring to prevent any fundamental changes.

I live in hope, and take what comes, and try not to worry about it. I placed my vote where I thought best for the country, thats all I can do.

That's all any of us can do mate !

But...I hope - and I am sure that Ivanhoe does too - that the people who are "floating" do not forget the disastrous Tory years of so long ago.

We REALLY have to have long memories if we are to make truly sensible decisions about where to place our votes this time round.

I want a hung Parliament, a wake up call, our system needs to change and it wont change if nothing else changes first.

ME TOO....if only to give the big two a fright and to ensure that any new legislation is well discussed by more than one big party with only a weak opposition to temper their pet policies.

A big majority is a bad thing when one sees this big majority used to allow the one party to indulge in their lightest whims enforced by three-line whips so that the back-bench rebels do not even get a say.

A hung parliament - in my estimation would be GREAT for democracy !

It is a fact that many great governments all around the world are co-alition governments - including in my beloved Scotland.

Then we hope for the same thing, and for the same reasons.

Yes Ivanhoe...I think that we do !

Co-alition governments work right around the world and I see no reason why one could not work here too.

What is sorely needed is voting reform so that the destructive two-party system is ended for good.

Proportional Representation with the single transferrable vote would do that.
