There is only one man in the history of British 'Democracy' who has given us more manure than Gordon Brown it's Blair. I say they should be impeached.
Remember: Helicopters, body armour (Lack of it) they saved money from our troops to buy their votes./
This is the most evil government British history.
I would make them attend at Wotton Bassett every time and hang their heads in shame.
Well done the people of Wiltshire they know what serving men and women deserve

No, Thatcher's Tory Government were, because it was they who initiated the immorality, and injustices going on today, all wrapped up in the free market.

Aw...come off it ! When Blair was elected for his first two landslides everybody - and not a few previous Tory voters - thought that the sun shone out of his backside.

He had charisma, a pretty face, a winning smile and certainly a way with words.

Why do you think that he can get £30,000 a pop, ( Notice I didn't say EARN ), for lecturing on the political circuit ?

The Times says that in two years he has earned £15 millions pounds by just talking to people. See this : http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article5489614.ece

Thatcher was equallly groomed to suck in the mindless British.  And Thatcher began what New Labour took on.

However I agree with you about Blair.

H/G it's so very easy to have a negative knee jerk reaction to politicians.

I was one of the millions who voted for Tony Blair thinking we were getting a Labour Government back into power after 18 long Tory years which brought hardship to millions of British people.

But what we got was revamped Thatcherism under the banner of New Labour.

The real culprits here are the working classes who brought their council houses under Margaret Thatcher's Tory government, and the middle classes who did well under Margaret Thatcher.

New Labour were voted in based on the wants of middle england, while the needs of the old, the sick, and the young were once again forgotten as they were through the Thatcher/Major years.

The British never know what they want until they havent got it anymore, the British largely are not politically motivated unless issues effect them personally.

I have to agree with almost all of that Ivanhoe but I don't like the idea of the people who were conned into buying their council houses being blamed for this. It WAS Thatcher's cynical attempt to bring the rentpaying lower-classes, ( as she would see it ), into her middle-class values that caused this phenomenon.

Many of the people who got those big discounts when buying their council house defaulted on the payments later on and were foreclosed on by the lenders and finished up homeless.

Because the local authorities were not allowed to use the money generated by these sales to build more council stock the quality council stock was lost and either went to the house-buyers that COULD afford to keep up the payments or finished up in the hands of the buy-to-rent mob who got them for a song at foreclosure auctions.

I bet Thatcher rubbed her hands with glee at THAT thought !

Papaumau, There is now way round saying that council house sell off's helped Thatcher into power, but what happened as a consequence of that is not what im saying, as bad as that was.

Thatcher introduced the market, the "casino" into Britain, while at the same time removing stone by stone the safety nets of welfare state protection, which I hasten to add, that New Labour have done nothing to reverse.

Council houses were originally built for people who could not afford to buy, and I believe this is the right ethic.

But as you rightly say, long term tenants were allowed to buy their council houses at knock down prices, and this was a vote winner as it was meant to be, for working class tenants at that time.

Thatcher was an opportunist politician.   And New Labour are the new opportunists, the new career politicians.

Not for much longer I hope !

I ALSO hope that the people who are dissatisfied with what New-Labour have done in their names DO NOT just swing back to The Tories again as that would be like jumping out of the frying pan and right into the fire.

Surely they are not THAT gullible ?

Largely, the British are as fickle as the weather.  And politically thick into the bargain.

AGAIN, a very sweeping and stereotypical statement Ivanhoe !

I have a much better opinion of the great British public in general than that.

I DO believe that many - if not all of them - are set in their ways and they often vote - if they vote at all - as their forbears always did.

Now it is time for them to start to think for themselves and it is our job to see that they do - as much as we can.

Papaumau, The British are neither political educated, if they were we would never have another Tory government of the right wing pursuation again.

They are thinking alright, but they are being brainwashed, and always will be.

Sorry, but the last 28 years since the Thatcher era has proved to me much about the British.

Why is it always "back to Thatcher". That is seriously old history and unchangeable. However, the last twelve years of Labour are now, the present, and hopefully the majority of people will take a good look at what they have done to this poor country, and vote them OUT!

Totally rediculous borrowing to meet their totally rediculous spending.

Two illegal wars at huge expense that nobody in this country support, leaving hundreds of our service men and women dead.

GREAT RECORD. And that's just two disasters!
