They are alleged to have stated today that once they are back to normal working they are to introduce what they call their Fair Pool-L policy where the heaviest passengers will be levied an overweight surcharge that exceeds 90 Kilos for men and 60 kilos for women.

For every kilo over these amounts it is alleged there will be a £1.00 surcharge and where any passenger exceeds120 kilos, a special rate equal to two seats per overweight passenger will be in force.

This plan is in addition to the surcharge that already exists for overweight baggage so that the payload of every aircraft will be maintained at a cost-effective level for passengers as well as freight.

...

Boy am I glad that I don't fly with British Airways as I would be paying an extra £25.00 for being eighteen stone !

HA HA...well spotted John ! ::)

I really thought that we might have had a few people ranting on about that one !

Ne-mind eh !

All joking aside, I think that we might expect that idea to pop up in the future if the airlines think of it. I hope they do not read this forum as I don't want to be blamed for giving them ideas. ;D

I must admit that it is not such a bad idea as long as they (an airline) take into account the height etc, ie use a "body mass index" rather than just weight. These fat people cost more to transport than slim (normal) people so they should pay for it.

Good incentive to slim!

I also think that these people, along with smokers and drunkards, should pay more NI contributions to cover the huge extra costs of their NHS usage.

It WAS an April fool after all ! ::)

One of MY favourite whinges about flying is the fact that the airlines will sell as much booze as the passengers can or can not handle while on board and yet they then get all uppity when one of them gets out of line and causes problems during the flight.

I mean, how double-standards is that then ?

There is hot debate and policy on fat air passengers in the US at present.

I expect whatever they finally decide the UK will copy - even if they have to be shot,
imprisoned without trail or tortured.

Us Brits will there with the special relationship routine, head nodding and tail wagging.

Led by the big slobbering big brown dog...
