Goldfish
« on: April 02, 2010, 03:35:38 PM »
You really can't make it up - if this had been a "story" in a magazine as a piece of fiction I/WE surely would have laughed at the very idea.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-1262676/RICHARD-LITTLEJOHN-If-justice-Im-goldfish.html

Now I know Littlejohn and the Daily Mail are not everyones cup of tea but read the article and weep for this country, who are these people councils/magistrates etc. that even in their wildest fantasies could come up with these sentences. Where I disagree with Littlejohn is when he says they were treated like hardened criminals - they were treated much worse than many hardened criminals.

From time to time I think how on earth can "this or that" be topped - A bulemic John Prescot springs to mind!!

Will this "Goldfish" story be "topped" How can it be??

A difficult one James !

What I mean by that is that the authorities are forced to apply all of the laws as they are written down and they are seldom allowed to "make allowances" when a law HAS been broken.

As I see it, here we have a perfect example of the "letter of the law" being followed without the "spirit of the law" being applied.

We hear about many cases like this these days where a bit of common sense might  - or should have - been applied by the prosecuting authorities rather than the authorities going down a line that they cannot get out of once started.

We had another prosecution very like this one recently where a man was
prosecuted for BLOWING HIS NOSE with a handkerchief while sitting in a traffic jam with his handbrake applied. When this case finally came to court the wise old judge threw it out and castigated the prosecutors for wasting time and money on a case that "should never have come to court in the first place".

Oh, and BTW.... this kind of story is grist to the mill for a rag like the Daily Mail !
Regards....

Many papers including the Daily Mirror must be rags - because they all carried this story.

This is all about Councils making easy money. No warnings, a friendly word.

Just Labour Driven Stealth Tax with a different wrapper.

Oh John, get off your Labour HATE campaign for just a second will you ?

Yes many of the tabloids would have covered this story, or this KIND of a story, as they see these bits of fluff as good human-interest "journalism", ( I use the word "journalism" very loosely here ! ).

They know that we immediately jump onto this kind of stuff and express our indignation by commenting on how obviously unfair acts like these are to us. Then they move on to the next human-interest story.

Labour 'Hate' Campaign?

I have previously posted how Scotland has been 'looked after'.

As you may know 'Hate Crime' is big business now.

Perhaps this will extend to Political Parties - then  you can have me arrested and
criminalised to meet Labour Targets.

If hate to you consists of posting, this Country would be better off without
Brown and his Clowns, then so be it.

The authorities in the goldfish matter were looking for easy money and for the area - an easy target.

I think that all of us here have GOT IT that you blame Brown and his cohorts for everything under the sun including the water running out of the bath in a clockwork direction...So there is no need to labour the point, ( sorry for the pun  ;) ).

I will be here - I hope - in a few years time and pulling you for blaming the next lot for your miserable life.

What we don't really know what other creatures she as sold to youngsters. The law was made for a reason to stop young people being cruel to animals which as been known to happen the past.

We have been calling G Brown, but was he running the country? or was it Peter Mandelson?

Cynical Hugh, but probably true !

Mandy was brought in out of the cold as he has a powerful intellect and can get stuff done even if he left under a cloud not so long ago. He is CERTAINLY at the centre of what goes on in New-Labour-land at the moment and as a Lord he can get to places that many others cannot get to.

A VERY dangerous individual for sure !

"BENT" ?

I take it you mean homosexual ?

What the hell has THAT got to do with anything ?

I would have thought by now that you might have known that I will ALWAYS defend all minority-groups even if I don't actually subscribe to their beliefs.
