These are just three of the (Labour) MP's who scammed the public with their expense claims and now we are going to pay for their defence >:(

God, just how low can these awful people stoop!

Sorry Hugh, but the individual bent-shots that fiddled their expenses were NOT just restricted to the Labour group ! Getting rid of the New-Labour government will do NOTHING to make such individuals - from all political bents - any straighter.

Yes, I DO agree that allowing those people to get legal aid was a travesty but I think that you will find that moves are already afoot to make them pay back any money granted to them via such legal aid support.

I agree there Pap. My local MP (Con) was one caught with his fingers in the pie and I still have to vote him back in if I want to support his party! Hard to swallow!

At least there is now going to be new rules introduced by a few of the political groups, ( surprisingly, including the Tories ), after the election so that will allow the local constituents to  drop a political representative if he or she goes rogue.

At present this is only in the power of the card-carrying party-political membership and only after a no-confidence vote has been upheld.

Papaumau, After 18 long years of Tory greed and self interest, making traditional Labour unelectable, I have lost complete faith in the British.

Not me..at least, not yet !

I am hoping for a hung parliament controlled by the third force.....The Liberal Democrats using alliances with The Greens, The SNP and Plaid Cyrmu.

Off to vote now !

If thats the case why don't you bog off abroad and find some where better. You haven't a clue how well off we really are. Britain is a great country and always will be. Once the tories have sorted out the mess the Labour party have left us in, it will be even better, but people like you will will vote them in again to create another mess. You are right about the welfare state the tories are going to sort it out in a big way.

So you dont care about the underclass that is always created by right wing politicians in government , including the former New Labour Government ?

You have to understand, that New Labour were not a Labour governmen in the official sense,  they were a Thatcherite government because they embraced Thatcherism from the outset in 1997.

The Debt we nowhave  is beause New Labour operated the same "low income" tax agenda as the former Tory government 1979-1997, so Gordon Brown, had to borrow the money to do the things he did, because he would not increase direct taxation.

Thatcher handed Britain a so-called "good" economy, but in creating that "good" economy, she also left a massive rich and poor devide, including amoung the elderly.

What New Labour did was at least to try and help the poorest in society.

Incidently, if I could afford it, I would indeed leave Britain, and because im a gentleman, im saying no more.
