Brown Given Time To Get Out
« on: May 10, 2010, 06:05:42 PM »
I would expect the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats to announce a pact shortly.

They gave space for Brown to step down in what to some may be seen as graceful.

Gordon Brown was a fine Chancellor and P.M.

If the Tories had been in power since 1997 things would have been much worse for everybody.

Actually John........

Brown stepped down so that doing so might make it easier for Nick Cleg and his Lib Dems to think about alliance with the Labour party. Talks HAVE taken place to this end.

Right to the last, and throughout his poisoned-chalice of a reign Gordon Brown has been a dignified and respected statesman; his leaving was done in the same honest and decent way as he tried to do his job as Chancellor and as Prime Minister. He has made many mistakes and he knows this and that is why he gallantly decided to go after being stabbed in the back by the electorate.

Regards....

Brown has stepped down as Leader of the Labour Party as a statement of intent
to the Liberal Democrats, who are now showing their true colours and holding
the people and country to political ransom.

No doubt Brown still expects to be the PM and form a government.

Then when that is done, stand once again for the Leadership  of the Labour Party.

None of this makes Brown decent and honest. In fact it is the opposite.

After a period that will be required to find stable government from anywhere Brown has said that he will give up his party leadership post AND the premiership.

This is a guarantee, as he knows that the time is up for him.

He has done it with dignity and decency as he has done everything else !

Now maybe we should allow his political career to rest in peace !

Dignity and decency?

Knows the meaning of the words but Brown would ignore that.

He was a control freak, no doubt he would have been diagnosed with some sort of spectrum disorder
in a different generation.

Ivanhoe: Brown a good Chancellor - the thief of Fife, he stole my pension and put my grandchildren in debt before they have even had the chance to earn a penny, throughout my life every time we have had a labour administration - you can't call it Government - we have ended up in debt no wonder they use the colour red for their symbol - the less well off you are the more in debt they will put us at least we might now have five years to try and repay some of the debt

Avalonmpk....

I think it is important to define the difference between NEW-Labour and Labour, as the latest manifestation of Labourism - invented by Tony Blair in order to capture Tory votes - is NOTHING LIKE true Labour.

The true Labour party - which I will admit, has it's roots in Communism, has evoloved from being a left-wing extremist party to being a centre-left party of the people.

It doesn't matter how many times Blair or anyone else says that this is now a classless society it patently IS NOT.

If we are to be true to our class, ( The working class - of which I am proud to be a member ), then we have to vote for the people who recognise the working classes as just as important as the rest.

I WILL also admit that this definition has now been severely blurred by past political machinations, but, if we are to be true to oursleves and our class we should stand up and be counted and fight the good fight against all kinds of elitism and privilege and Toryism in our daily lives.

To be able to fight this fight we have to be sure who we are fighting for and who we are fighting against.

From Keir Hardy to the present day all socialists are pretentious and self centred and have finessed the art of spending (wasting) someone Else's money

So dear boy, you would advocate the abolition of the British welfare state ?

I would advocate the abolition of the abuse of Lloyd Georges idea of the the welfare state, as I've said before: educate the young, look after the old and the infirm and everybody else looks after themselves.
