I will TRY to answer your question John.....
As the New-Labourites did not think that they would ever need a leader or a Prime Minister to replace Brown they never made any moves towards training up or anointing any possible replacement. Now they have been caught on the hop and do not seem to have any obvious candidate for that job.
As far as the public are concerned we don't know any of them well enough either to be able to see any obvious front-runner.
I am sure, nevertheless, that the PLP people will find a suitable short-list of candidates to present to us for approval. Even then we will have very little say in who goes forward for the post as this particular election will be dealt with in-house, behind closed doors and voted on by the card-carrying party-faithful.
