Both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown from 1997, embraced Thatcher's free market.
Instead of giving the British people the breath of fresh air the people thought they were getting with the influx of a Labour Government in 1997, following the hardship of 18 Tory years, 1979- to 1997, I write that because some people have short memories, if this site is anything to go by, these people have in my view "the lynch mob mentality ).
New Labour became the new Thatcherite's, but at least they tried to help the poor.
Gordon Brown would be literally having from a tree with a rope round his neck if this was the deep South in the 60's, because this is how it seems to me on and off this site with people parroting the media and each other with these knee jerk reactions about Gordon Brown.
My only constructive criticism of Gordon Brown is that he failed to take Labour back to the left when he took over from Tony Blair.
