Chrior6

Welcome to the forum, we do have a thread on how to post pictures on the forum I would suggest you join something like picture shrink first which will help you to post by reducing them initially.

I am sure others will have their opinions as well.

You will no doubt get on very well with our Hugh who is older then you when he first started diving and now dives with the sharks, brave man

Once again welcome and we look forward to seeing your pictures

Hi Chris welcome to the forum.

As Dottie says I am a little older than you and started diving at the age 66 had my first dive with Bull, Tiger sharks and others at the age of 70, went again this year and loved every minute of it. They are such friendly playful animals you cannot help but love them. If you have the cash you must try it some time, look up Roland and Beulah of African Dive Adventure. If you read the magazine Diver watch out for an Article by Gavin Parson who was doing an article for them while I was there. Should be in the October issue.

Hi Chris its not cheap going so far and I cannot see me going again. But the memories I have will last for ever. For future plans if you ever decide to go, May is the best for the Durban area. African Dive Adventure are based in Shelly beach they have a web site and they are also on Face Book. Just look up Beulah Mauz who post dive reports.

Diving closer to home I have always enjoyed Tenerife with Atlantic Divers Tenerife run by Geoff and his daughter Kerry they can also be found on site.

hi Chrisor6 sorry for the delay in my reply! I always find that shooting and hoping for the best is a wonderful strategy, especially with my digital camera. ;D

Hi Chris if you have the October issue of the Dive Magazine you will see an article by Garvin Parson about Protea Banks, he took the pics while I was there. I was mention in the article mainly because of my age. Yes and one small pic of me. Because the vis wasn't that great above, he based the article around Sand Tiger Shark also known as Raggies. They are a very shy but friendly shark and will allow you to swim among them as long as you take it nice and easy.

I did my Open Water course with that company in Gran Canaria it was very hard going having to carry all that gear down steps, across a beach, and then swim out 100 metre to get to deep water. After that it was get to the gym to get fit. I now dive with Atlantic Divers Tenerife where we drop into deep water off a boat. Plenty of Rays and other fish to see and an Angel shark every now and again.
