Unions
« on: July 20, 2010, 02:22:52 PM »
When Crow and his merry men call for his members to go on strike  should n't his pay be stopped as well. Not fair that he should be so keen on strike action yet still be drawing a very high wage from the union funds.

Socialist at it's FINEST more correctly at the lowest possible pit it can fall in! I was a member of a craft union for 55 years in those days - at least most of the time the unions were looking after the members interests and the welfare of apprentices and their education obtaining a fair day pay for a fair days work - nearly all the union officers were on a voluntary basis and worked alongside the members - Not remote and trying to further their political careers race religion & politics did not come into it. What do we have today the like of Prescott toadying around the upper house which should have been an elected chamber in 1945! But no Socialists must climb to the top on the backs of those they claim to represent the only people they are for are themselves!!!

Bob Crow, like any other permanent union official is elected by the membership.

He gets well paid so that he cannot be got at by anyone who might want to influence him.

This good salary also ensures that he can concentrate all of his time on union matters and means that he does not also need to have another job in order to make ends meet.

Apart from the people who have an instinctive hatred for unions, if one is prepared to look closely, with an open mind, one will see what unions are all about.

If employers were altruists there would be no need for unions but as they are flawed individuals that are under some pressure to get the most out of the workers while giving the least, unions are essential for ensuring fair play.

Without unions we would very soon go straight back to the bad old days of the "dark satanic mills".
Regards....

Papaumau.

If the unions leaders pay stop as well as the members he may work harder to get a settlement even before any strike action took place. At the moment they just enjoy plenty of time on television with no worries of loss of pay. Great job to have.

Hi All, I will leave the forum if other wish it but not by this very rude Ivanhoe who can only talk about is M. Thatcher and right wing politics.

GO BACK TO SLEEP adds nothing to the discussions and if he hasn't got nothing more positive to say, should go back to sleep

Ivanhoe Papa could well SOPT on but it takes a simple person like me to have an opposite view point to keep a discussion going. Your rude remarks adds nothing to the discussion or the forum content.

I just wonder what the 30 odd silent readers of this forum think about you. You come across as a sad person very bitter with life.
