If the unions leaders pay stop as well as the members he may work harder to get a settlement even before any strike action took place. At the moment they just enjoy plenty of time on television with no worries of loss of pay. Great job to have.

Ignoring the two-line spats.......

Hugh....

That is exactly the point mate; these union officials - by being paid a good salary - are able to fight on without having to worry about whether the mortgage is going to be paid or not.

This pressure on strikers helps to force them back to work even when they feel they are right about the reasons for striking. Strike pay is supposed to help a bit in this respect but any worker that goes on strike KNOWS that they can only do it for a finite time or they may starve and get kicked out of their homes if they go too long without a pay..

The union leaders have to be protected from this threat so that they can keep on fighting on behalf of their membership.
Regards....

Sorry I have completely lost interest in this debate. I think I will leave you two to agree with each other. You Papa to post some thing and Ivanhoe to agree. This forum should be alive with members but it is not and you two are to blame. You Papa have kept very quiet while your mate Ivanhoe dishes out rude remarks without adding anything to the discussion.

Get a life Ivanhoe and don't be such bore.

There are people in life who are impervious to the plight of others, somehow "self" and "importance" are paramount.

Im proud to say that im not one of these people.  All further postings on this site from you that come through to my e.mail box will be deleated, you are not worth the time of day.

Hugh......

If you REALLY read my stuff you will see that I try hard to keep up with the discussion and I DO NOT take part in childish points-scoring spats.

If everybody here tried to do what I do and talk from informed knowledge the debate would be much more stimulating for all.
