Who should be protected from the cuts ?
« on: August 04, 2010, 10:27:09 AM »
It seems obvious to me that the people who should be protected from government cuts should be the weak, the poor, the sick and the elderly and that these cuts - which we all agree, I am sure, are necessary - should be made where people and companies and entities can afford to withstand the pain of such cuts..

It seems extremely unfair that any government should attack the weak, the sick, the already poor and the elderly in this way just because they are soft targets.

But will they I wonder ?

Not if it is left up to the CON-DEM government, they won't !

That is a very wide-ranging statement to make Ivanhoe !

I am sure that if "the people" were asked you might be surprised how many of them might agree with my original premise.

Of course there will always be the greedy and selfish ones right across the board but I think that they are actually in the minority.

I think I have a much greater opinion of human nature than you have mate !

Of course the ones that oppose us here will resist thinking about the question I asked as if they DID they might find that they might have to admit that I am right too.

Surely it is basic common sense and basic decency to leave the poor, the sick and the aged alone when money is being restricted or withdrawn from society in such savings purges.

ANYBODY ?

AGAIN, I wouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater as far as that is concerned as I do NOT think that the great mass of the British people are like that and I do not think that Britain as a "whole" is really a "hole".

Having said that, I agree that the right-wing in the main do not care about anything but themselves and their own and if the Lib-Dems are not courageous enough to even try to temper the more rightist actions of Cameron and his grandee puppet-masters then things are going to go from bad to worse for the weak and the underprivileged in Britain.
