blinded by greed and self interest, even to the detriment of their offspring.

Can not say I like the people you are referring to. Every thing we have we have earned, and have always supported our offspring in times of need. So just who are you referring??????

I think you should change British to English. Scotlands youth save £24,000 on fees which would make a nice down payment on an house which are much cheaper up north. There is a big problem in England where rich people have second homes which stand empty most of the time this should not be allowed. Blinded greed and self interest can be used for a certain few but not all. ie One very famous and very rich foot baller sisters drawing benefits when his small change could make her rich.

Your delibertations, some of which are completely true, having nothing to do with the fact that Thatcher stopping building council houses in the 80s and 90's, and this is the reason for Britain's housing crisis.

Whether people live in poor or rich regions, it is a person's right to a council built home they can rent cheaply, in order to save for a mortgage if they so wish.

The rules have now been changed and 43 council houses are being built in our area so I wonder if things are on the change under Cameron????

Certainly NOT under Cameron !

The last New-Labour government made a lot of mistakes but that is one of the things that they did that was right. Now the local authorities and the housing associations right around the country are being "encouraged" to build many more affordable, ( social ), and rented accommodation than they did before.

In many council areas of Scotland the Thatcher "right-to-buy" council houses has been ended so that no more decent rentable properties get cheaply into the hands of better-off tenants leaving the dregs of the state-owned properties to the worse-of in our society.

Cameron's/Osborne's cuts, ( which will be highlighted in the spending review in a few weeks ), will almost certainly cut cash from the government block-grant to local authorities, forcing them to also cut their social house-building programme.

I might be wrong here and I suppose we are just going to have to wait and see about that.
Regards....

Papaumau.
