All of the governments of the past have told us that they were planning to get rid of the majority of the quangos out there as generally it is the case that they do not do what is expected of them. Even the last New-Labour government promised what they called a "bonfire of the quangos" and yet this just did not happen.
Now even the Tory-backed Telegraph are calling for
36 of them to be shut down as they are "not fit for purpose" and they cost Britain
£1.8 billion a year.
See
THIS.
The actual facts are that there are
1200 of them connected to the EU and working in Britain at a total cost of
£120 billion a year.
We hear ad-infinitum about the level of the government debt, ( the deficit ), and we are being brainwashed that we should all be prepared to get ready for the pain of paying this deficit back. This includes - of course - the weakest targets in Britain, that are unable to defend themselves against such cuts and inevitably this will also include the sick and the poor and YES.....
the old.Surely it would be common-sense to start to cut wasteful spending first before hitting the people of Britain with extra costs and taxes, and a true "bonfire of the quangos" would be a great place to start.
Don't you agree ?
