The first time i ever saw/heard Tom Waits was on a music show that was on channel four about thirty years ago called 'the tube'. I sat and watched him, mesmerised, while my wife was saying "what the hecks that?"
Does anybody remember the tube? I used to record it all then make a compilation tape of the best acts on my two betamax video recorders, lol. It had several hosts, leslie ash (hubba hubba) was one but the main two were jools holland and paula yates. Paula yates was supposed to be the daughter of 'tv bishop' jess yates (remember him?) but it turned out her dad was no other than Hughie Green! She died of a heroin overdose, as did her daughter Peaches Geldof a few years later....

This is the guy who's face should be on the new fifty pound notes, lol! I had this on repeat as i drove to work for my last ever shift before retiring. A brilliantly crafted song, the obligatory sweet, sweet solo starts about 2:36.
A great day for freedom...

At the moment I've been watching Celtic Thunder a lot and came across their youngest member, still at school I just love this.

More Than A Feeling by Boston - nearly has me in tears every time I hear it, don't know why as I don't associate it with any particular time in my past.

This as a piece I remember playing often..or rather, my partner, who played banjo did. 'S called Earl's Breakdown the Earl in question being Earl Scruggs who also invented the Scruggs pegs gadget that bends the note so accurately. Oh, BTW, the boy playing is 9 years old.

Loved the Banjo boys zoony.

One of my all time favourites.  Don Maclean's Vincent.  With Van Gogh's paintings. What can I say.

Granny
Thanks for the link - lovely, simple version, and quite a number of the pictures were new to me
